Whether it be intimate dining at the original first Indian Restaurant in Christchurch on Ferry Road established by Anup Nathu, (with wife Sadhana) over 25 years ago, or from sites at 205 Hills Road, 473 Papanui Road, 134 Colombo Street, 71 Ilam Road, 56 Cathedral Square, Tandoori Palace is the place for top class Indian food
The business has expanded from that landmark first restaurant to include Takeout /Restaurants in Christchurch, Dunedin, Rotorua, and now Queenstown.
One time Canterbury cricketing representative and Tandoori Palace owner Anup Nathu says, “ I continue to be amazed at the number of first time customers that come to our outlets every night. They have heard about us from their friends and know that we offer authentic quality Indian food and value for money.” This has meant continued growth for the business, riding the wave of an increasingly popular form of dining.
Whether it be the seasoned Indian food devotee who likes his curry so hot it makes the eyes water, or someone tentatively experiencing their first taste of this delicious food and opting for a mild dish that will be happily consumed by a five year old, Tandoori Palace can offer advice and the right match. Prepared by top Indian chefs, quality and consistency have become the byword for Tandoori Palace food. The company also makes a point of looking after their chefs, something that does not always happen in this line of business. Inter –restaurant rivalry is resolved with regular social cricket games and longer serving chefs have brought out wives and taken citizenship.
After 25 years of business, we now have downsized to ensure our quality is maintained. Two amazing locations still exist- 71 Ilam Road and our new refurbishment in Queenstown!
